BPBD Warns of Tidal Floods in North Jakarta and Seribu Islands

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) calls on residents who live in coastal areas to be alert for tidal floods or called rob from August 2 to 9, 2025.

This phenomenon has the potential to increase the maximum sea level

Jakarta BPBD Executing Unit Acting Head, Isnawa Adji said the sea tide occurs due to the phenomena of the Perigee Phase (closest distance between Earth and the Moon) and the New Moon Phase, as reported by the Tanjung Priok BMKG Class I Maritime Meteorological Station regarding the early warning for coastal flooding.

"This phenomenon has the potential to increase the maximum sea level, resulting in coastal flooding or tidal flooding in the northern coastal areas of Jakarta," he expressed, Saturday (8/2).

He urged residents living in the northern coastal area of Jakarta to anticipate the impact of maximum tidal seawater, which has the potential to cause coastal flooding, starting from Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, Muara Angke, Tanjung Priok, and Seribu Islands.

Seeing that, residents are appealed to continue monitoring the latest information regarding sea waves on the pages bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut.
